HDD Sample Projects  |  Uses for HDD  |  Advantages  |  Why Choose HDD

Our success in challenging jobs, such as laying conduit under an operating runway at Manchester Airport, prove our skill and dedication.

The addition of the Vermeer D55x100 navigator adds great power and completes our fleet. It is designed for mid to large projects with a rotational torque of 10,000ft-lb and a pullback of 55,000 lbs.

Our equipment, including the TR-40, give us the muscle to handle the conditions on the most difficult projects.

Why Choose HDD

Henniker Directional Drilling was formed as a sister company to Contoocook Artesian Well Co., Inc., a third-generation family business in Henniker, New Hampshire, that has been drilling through the state's rocky soils for 65 years.

To form the company, Rick Patenaude, owner of the well drilling business, partnered with Jeff Martin, who worked at Ingersoll Rand for 13 years managing drilling rig maintenance teams. The partners saw that HDD would be needed more often as New England's industry and housing markets have expanded so has the need for efficient utility installation.

Our Experience

Expertise in underground drilling - The founders of the company have been involved with drilling for three generations.
Experienced with the geological formations in New England - Soils are rocky and difficult to navigate in this region, and we have decades of experience working in these conditions.
Our crews are formally trained, certified in pipe fusion, confined space, and competent person - HDD strongly encourages education and training for our crews at every available opportunity
Our Equipment

We own three directional drills that can handle a wide range of HDD jobs.
Our TR-14 Mini Directional Drill has been designed for the installation of underground utilities such as gas lines, electric lines, fiber optic lines, cable TV and sewer lines. Its compact size still makes it great for those "back yard" jobs, yet its 14,000 lb thrust pullback gives it more muscle.
Our TR-40 Horizontal Drill Rig sets a new standard in Directional Drilling. With its rated 38,500 lbs of thrust/pullback, 6,500 ft lbs of rotary torque and standard 90 gpm @ 1000 psi mud pump, the TR-40 is ready to tackle your toughest jobs.
The latest addition of our Vermeer D50x100 Navigator brings great power and completes our fleet. It is designed for mid-large sized projects with a rotational torque of 10,000lbs and a pull back of 50,000lbs.
Our Service

Our directional drilling line of service includes gravity and pressure sewer, telecommunication lines, water service, power service and drain installation.
We work with various pipe sizes and materials, and can assist you with pipe applications specific to your project. Types of pipe that may be used for directional drilling applications include HDPE, steel, and PVC. We can bore pipe sizes up to 16" in diameter and in varying lengths. Pipe can also be bored in bundles.
Focused on safety, accuracy, and completion in a timely manner.
