:: Connection to a Private Pressure Sewer in Richmond, Massachusetts ::
In Richmond, Massachusetts., a homeowner needed a connection to a private pressure sewer and was daunted by the
$3,000 cost for equipment to open cut the road. He needed to build a system where the waste would flow from the
house into a tank and then to a leaching field across the street. Because the septic was 70 feet away and across
state road Route 41, directional drilling was an attractive option. Martin set up the drilling rig without the
need of traffic control, police or permits, and bored under Route 41 through coarse gravel soil. Pulling through
3-inch HDPE (high density polyethylene) pipe, Martin completed the connections between the leaching field and the
sewer tank from the house.
